Uniqlo will open four new stores in Canada this fall. The expansion builds on the apparel retailer’s strategy to reach 200 stores in North America by 2027.
“Uniqlo continues to resonate with Canadian customers, and we aim to deliver essential clothing that complements their lifestyles, made to be building blocks of their wardrobe with longevity in mind,” Daisuke Tsukagoshi, CEO of Uniqlo North America, said in a statement.
Uniqlo will open stores in Toronto; Mississauga, Ontario; Brampton, Ontario; and Langley, British Columbia, by the end of the year, according to a Wednesday announcement.
The company stated its intentions to increase its brick-and-mortar locations at the end of last year, with a goal of opening over 20 stores in the U.S. and Canada in 2024.
For the third quarter, parent company Fast Retailing’s revenue was up 13.5% year over year to 767.5 billion yen ($5.1 billion), with strong performances in the North America, Europe and Southeast Asia regions. For the quarter, revenue for Uniqlo International rose 19.4% year over year to 408.8 billion yen. Uniqlo North America in particular reported an increase in revenue in part due to sales of linen, sports utility wear, bra tops and other ranges.
Japan-based Fast Retailing forecast that it will deliver a “record performance” for the year, with Uniqlo International landing “significantly higher” revenue and profit in the second half of the year. The company expects over 1,700 Uniqlo international stores by the end of August.
