Dive Brief:
-
Coupon site RetailMeNot CFO Douglas Jeffries has resigned, and general counsel and secretary Louis Agnese will serve in the interim as of Nov. 30, the company announced.
-
No reason was given for the departure, but the coupon site is struggling. The company forecast quarterly revenue of $84.7 million to $86.7 million, but expectations on average were closer to $90.8 million.
-
The company missed Q3 revenue and growth forecasts, which said it was due in part to increased mobile visits, which aren't leading to sales as high as those from web visits.
Dive Insight:
RetailMeNot makes a commission from retailers when its customers buy using its coupons, but that appears to be less of a money-maker when shoppers are on mobile. As the economy in Europe and China slows, too, the fact that 23% of its revenue comes from activity abroad has taken its toll.
