Dive Brief:
-
The Neiman Marcus Innovation Lab (iLab) and interactive touchscreen company T1Visions have developed touch tables that the department store is testing in a few stores.
-
The upscale retailer is featuring the touch tables, which feature T1Visions “OneShop” software, in the shoe departments of its Austin, TX, Topanga, CA, and Chicago stores.
-
The tables have a 32-inch, ultra-HD 4K touchscreen. OneShop allows Neiman Marcus customers to browse, find inventory, and favorite items, and will ultimately be used for orders as well.
Dive Insight:
Look for retailers to develop and experiment with in-store technologies like this that will allow customers to expand their experiences beyond the immediate store space, what Neiman Marcus Enterprise Architect and iLab Manager Scott Emmons calls “unbridled access to product.”
"Whether it's a product in another store location or from our online inventory, our goal is to provide customers with omnichannel access to the best merchandise in the world," said Neiman Marcus Group CMO Wanda Gierhart in an announcement. "With our touch tables, we deliver another layer of exceptional customer service."
