Dive Brief:
-
Lumber Liquidators chief compliance officer Ray Cotton has left the company, it was discovered Tuesday. Reporters noted his employment status change on his LinkedIn page, and the retailer later confirmed his departure.
-
Cotton is the latest executive to leave in matter of days, on the heels of CEO Robert Lynch and CFO Daniel Terrell.
-
Meanwhile, the retailer Monday sought to clarify why it re-labeled some of its flooring with new safety certificate numbers.
Dive Insight:
Lumber Liquidators is having a difficult time regaining any footing ever since CBS’s "60 Minutes" report. It is beset with investigations and lawsuits, and has had a difficult time handling communications with the press or the public.
With the company’s leadership leaving in droves, the retailer could be hoping to turn over a new leaf, but that hasn’t quite happened yet. And the departure of its chief compliance officer in the corporate equivalent of sneaking out, without any official announcement, doesn’t bode well.
