Dive Brief:
- Fifth & Pacific Cos. Inc. will sell its intellectual right to the Juicy Couture clothing and store brand to Authentic Brands Group for $195 million.
- The move comes as Fifth & Pacific looks to refocus on its Kate Spade brand and trim its porfolio, which used to consist of about 40 properties.
- Fifth & Pacific also owns the rights to Lucky Brand jeans, which it may be looking to part with as well.
Dive Insight:
Fifth & Pacific, as you may know, used to be Liz Claiborne. Times and markets have changed, however, and the company wants to get its priorities in order. The transition for the Juicy deal will likely last into the first half of next year, and it sounds like its possible that we may hear more soon about plans for Lucky Brand.
