The Canadian apparel brand is owned by grocery chain Loblaw Co. Ltd. and has 350 stores in Canada, many of them within those supermarkets. The brand also has store-within-stores in the U.S. at J.C. Penney and standalone stores in New York City and New Jersey.
Dive Insight:
Joe Fresh has been a hit in Canada since its 2006 launch, ably shepherded by Mimran, a designer and entrepreneur who often showed up at social events wearing his own stylish but affordable clothes. The retailer occupies some of the same turf as the likes of Uniqlo, which has seen rapid expansion. Although it has seen some growing pains and flat sales recently, the brand is poised to expand and is embarking on a new marketing plan this year.
