Dive Brief:
-
J.C. Penney EVP, general counsel, and secretary Janet Dillon is leaving effective immediately, the retailer said Friday.
-
Her departure comes amid other staff changes at the retailer, including the departure of CMO Debra Berman, who’d been there for less than three years. Further, general merchandise manager for men John Tighe was named senior general merchandise manager, and general merchandise manager for women Siiri Dougherty was similarly promoted to senior general merchandise manager.
-
Last week the Plano-based retailer also announced the retirement effective May 15 of longtime board member Kent B. Foster, who has served since 1998.
Dive Insight:
After several years of changes and reversals, including something of a revolving door at its CEO position, J.C. Penney has more or less righted itself. But the turnaround is more of a return to its previous status quo, and the company has further to go. That will likely be coming under new incoming CEO Marvin Ellison, who comes aboard Aug. 1. Some of this shuffling seems to be early moves by him.
