• Mall- and web-based music and pop culture specialty retailer Hot Topic said on Tuesday that it will acquire online retailer ThinkGeek parent Geeknet Inc.

• The cash and stock deal totals $122 million, the companies said.

• Stockholders have blessed the deal, which will likely close sometime next month.

Geeknet has tumbled far from its Linux-fueled ambitions and its hardware-for-geeks roots. But this acquisition by Hot Topic for what’s now left of Geeknet, its Dr. Who knick-knacks and other nerdy collectibles, may be a really good fit for both companies.
