• Same-day delivery company Deliv, which partners with retailers and malls for same-day delivery, has hired eBay's former vice president of product Kenny Pate.
   
• Pate had been at eBay as a product executive since 2009, where he oversaw inventory, structured data, catalogs, checkout, payments, shipping, trust and fraud prevention, and billing projects.
   
• Menlo Park-based Deliv was founded in 2012 and has gathered $12.5 million in four rounds of investment funding. EBay pulled its own same-day delivery app late last year.

Dive Insight:

Expect more news like this of shifts at eBay as it works to spin off its PayPal payments business. And expect more news like this from Deliv, which seems to be making same-day and even one-hour delivery work.

The startup is based on the idea that retailers already have their inventories handy in their brick-and-mortar stores and crowdsources delivery people to get orders out and delivered.
