Dive Brief:
-
Crate and Barrel CEO Sascha Bopp has resigned, as did president Marta Calle just weeks ago. The two were promoted to their positions at the same time, two years ago.
-
Bopp oversaw an international expansion of the company after taking leadership in 2012 upon the retirement of longtime CEO Barbara Turf, who died last month.
-
No reason was given for the departure. COO Adrian Mitchell will serve as interim CEO until a replacement for Bopp is found, the company said.
Dive Insight:
Barbara Turf was known for leading the company with creativity and flair, and had remained on the board after her retirement two years ago. Now the company’s top two executives are inexplicably out. For a company that has been led by only three CEOs, these sudden changes happening all at once make for quite a shakeup.
