Dive Brief:
-
Amazon Wednesday said it’s launched Amazon Exclusives, a storefront that features products from inventors and sellers that sell only through Amazon or their own sites or physical stores.
-
The selection includes a range of products, from tech peripherals like portable batteries to kid shoes.
-
Some of the items are warehoused and fulfilled by Amazon, allowing Prime members to access their two-day shipping perk.
Dive Insight:
Amazon Exclusives is the first time that Amazon has featured a “discovery” layout, like Pinterest, that more easily allows browsing because it’s not dependent on search. Pinterest, Wanelo, and other discovery-oriented sites have shown to be effective in attracting shoppers. eBay has also recently experimented with discovery layouts.
