Muge Erdirik Dogan has stepped down as head of Amazon Fashion and Fitness, with company veteran Jenny Freshwater taking over the role.
Freshwater has held various software, planning, operational and marketing roles at the e-commerce giant for the last 13 years, per her LinkedIn page. Most recently she served as vice president of traffic and marketing technology, responsible for building global, cross-channel and traffic-driving marketing capabilities, the company said in an emailed statement. Those included efforts via social media, creator growth, and global shopping events like Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.
Erdirik Dogan, who has been at Amazon in various roles for 16 years, is leaving the company to pursue another opportunity, per the company’s statement.
The e-commerce giant is in the midst of closing its two Amazon Style brick-and-mortar apparel stores, saying last week that it will focus on its growing online fashion business. Those stores were part of its physical store strategy, which includes grocery-oriented chains like Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh, rather than the Amazon Fashion operation, a spokesperson said by phone.
“Amazon will now focus its efforts on selling apparel online – an arena where it has considerable success,” GlobalData Managing Director Neil Saunders said of the closures.
