International Release - Copenhagen, Denmark
Global jewelry brand Pandora is expanding its Virtual Try-On to cover its entire product catalog. By January 2021, Pandora’s technology partner, Tangiblee, developed and launched the popular augmented reality feature across most of Pandora’s product categories including bracelets, pendants, rings, and earrings.
While most jewelry retailers were searching to invest and develop solutions following the fall-out from Q2 and Q3 Covid retail lockdowns, Pandora’s digital team was already testing a series of technical features to help bolster engagement & revenue across their digital channels. By Sept 2020, the team was able to activate multiple digital solutions including a virtual sales assistant, ‘digital gifting’, and its web-based augmented reality feature, Virtual Try-On.
Of those digital activations, the Virtual Try-On feature was the fastest and easiest to implement across 10+ Pandora websites around the world. Partnering with Tangiblee - an eCommerce SaaS company focused on the digital product experience - Pandora rolled out a Virtual Try-On experience that did not require customers to download an app or use any additional technical equipment. Pandora shoppers can ‘try-on’ a piece of jewelry - with scaled accuracy - by tapping the TRY IT ON button on each product page while browsing with their mobile device.
Last week, Pandora released its 2020 Annual report referencing the successful work from their newly anointed ‘innovation first' digital team - called Digital Hub. The report indicated the Digital Hub was a major factor in Pandora’s ability to retain relative financial stability in the face of one of the volatile retail years in modern history. Pandora hasn’t slowed down the development of digital capabilities and, as such, may come out of the Covid-19 pandemic in a better position than before.
The Virtual Try-On solution offered Pandora customers a safe alternative to in-store shopping that kept customers highly engaged with both product and brand.
