OrderDynamics Finds That Only 27.5% of U.S. Retailers Offer Buy Online Pickup In-Store (BOPIS)
The research highlights the omni-channel capabilities of more than 750 retailers

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OrderDynamics, providers of the world’s most advanced, out-of-the-box Distributed Order Management (DOM) System, today released its Omni-2000 Research: U.S. Of the countries analyzed in Omni-2000 Research: Global, the U.S. market was found to rank last in click & collect (BOPIS) capabilities.
Though it’s the largest consumer market in the world, U.S. omni-channel is still in its early days, evidenced by larger chains advancing at a disproportionately faster rate than mid-market chains. Nearly half of the retailers surveyed with over 250 stores offer click & collect, whereas only 18.1% with 51-100 stores offer the service.
Additional findings from the 753 U.S.-based retailers include:
39.1% of omni-channel retailers offer basic, active inventory visibility
24.7% of all retailers provide free return shipping
42.1% of U.S. retailers offer BORIS (Buy Online Return In-Store)
31.9% of omni-channel retailers accept Instagram purchases
Although room for improvement exists, the research found that 85.8% of retailers surveyed have an e-commerce presence and compared to findings from last year, click & collect grew 5.7%.
“E-commerce is deployed well throughout the U.S. retail market, but this research shows omni-channel capabilities continue to mature,” said Nick McLean, CEO, OrderDynamics. “As retailers start to take advantage of faster, standardized and much less expensive point solutions, this profile will shift.”
