Wilson Sporting Goods has opened its fourth store in the U.S. and its third in New York City, the retailer said in details emailed to Retail Dive on Monday. The company’s Columbus Circle location is a two-story space with an “expansive product offering” encompassing both sports equipment and its sportswear apparel line.
Wilson reiterated plans to open pop-up shops in “key locations throughout the summer,” including its annual U.S. Open store. The company celebrated the opening of its new location with an NBA Draft Week event hosted in partnership with Slam Magazine. Draftees including Jabari Smith, Keegan Murray and Jaden Ivey visited the store and talked about the draft and the upcoming NBA season.
The new location comes just a few weeks after Wilson opened a store on the Upper East Side, and almost a year after the sporting goods brand opened its first store in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. The retailer has been pursuing a more DTC-led strategy since then.
