Dive Brief:
- Two Tap, a mobile payment startup, announced Thursday that it has raised $2.7 million in a seed round.
- The less-than-a-year-old company aims to develop the first checkout solution that would let users order merchandise from any retailer on any mobile app or website.
- Two Tap is currently working with 215 retailers and mobile apps including Kiip, Shopsy, and Wanelo, helping that company test an in-app buy button.
Dive Insight:
As reported earlier this week, Wanelo's use of an in-app buy button could greatly change the way it does business, transforming it from a social sharing site to a creditable e-commerce competitor. And Two Tap has a lot to do with that.
The question will be whether Two Tap can greatly increase the amount of retailers it has in its inventory. If so, its work with Wanelo, Kiip, Shopsy, and others could create a more sociable type of online and mobile shopping.
