Dive Insight:
In Sequino, Supergoop has tapped a seasoned veteran in the health and wellness space as its next CEO.
“I’ve long admired Holly’s vision, her authentic story, and the category she created nearly 20 years ago with Supergoop,” Sequino said in a statement. “The brand’s mission is a powerful one and they truly shifted consumer behavior toward daily SPF use. This special brand has an incredibly strong infrastructure, passionate brand loyalists and significant reach already, and I’m excited by the tremendous opportunity ahead to further expand its global footprint and bring new innovative products to market.”
Prior to her two years at JLo, Sequino spent over nine years with Estée Lauder where she led global strategy and growth for consumer and lifestyle brands, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before that she spent eight years in leadership roles at Procter & Gamble.
“Lisa brings such super experience and perspective to the table, having built her career scaling and accelerating growth within both established luxury and upstart beauty brands alike,” Supergoop founder Holly Thaggard said in a statement. “But most importantly, she fully understands and is passionate about our mission, which is to change the way the world thinks about sunscreen through innovation and inspiration — and ultimately to help stop the epidemic of skin cancer.”
The appointment of Sequino comes at a time of growth for Supergoop. In 2021 investment firm Blackstone acquired a majority stake in Supergoop, which allowed the company to expand distribution internationally, educate consumers and release new products. At the time the company said Thaggard Baldwin and its senior management team, retained a significant equity ownership in the company.
Supergoop continued to build out its C-suite in 2022 by naming brand specialist Britany LeBlanc as its chief marketing officer and hiring Intermix and Marc Jacobs veteran Ryan Crowley as its chief financial officer and chief operating officer.
