- Amazon on Wednesday announced the Buy with Prime app for Shopify, a new app integration that lets merchants offer Buy with Prime via their Shopify store. Prime members who use Buy with Prime on Shopify can access free delivery and easy returns via Amazon’s fulfillment network.
- With the Buy with Prime option, Amazon Prime members can click Buy with Prime on a product’s detail page to pay for their purchases using the payment method saved in their Amazon wallets. Shopify Payments will process that via Shopify’s checkout system, according to the announcement.
- The two companies will begin offering the service on an invite-only basis to select Shopify merchants, but it will be available for all U.S.-based Shopify sellers who use or want to use Amazon’s fulfillment network by the end of September.

A partnership between Amazon and Shopify marks a change in relationship between the two companies. In April 2022, Amazon launched its Buy with Prime feature to allow members to shop on websites outside Amazon while still accessing Prime benefits like free delivery and returns. Shopify reportedly warned its merchants not to add Buy with Prime to their storefronts, because the company said it violated the company’s terms of service and posed security risks.
By integrating Amazon’s Buy with Prime feature, Shopify aims to simplify operations for merchants using both platforms. Prior to this integration, Shopify sellers had to manage their Buy with Prime and Shopify administrative functions separately, Amazon said.
The integration will enable merchants to automatically sync their orders, promotions, catalog listings and taxes within the Shopify system.
“We’ve been thrilled with the feedback merchants have shared about Buy with Prime, including the increased shopper conversion and new shopper acquisition,” Peter Larsen, Amazon vice president of Buy with Prime, said in a statement. “The build of this app was a collaboration with Shopify, and we’re excited to help merchants not only grow their businesses, but also save time and resources—all while giving Prime members even more places to enjoy their shopping benefits.”
The partnership between Shopify and Amazon marks the continued expansion of Buy with Prime. Earlier this year, Amazon announced plans to offer the service to all U.S. merchants.
