Raf Simons on Monday announced that he is shuttering his namesake label. The Spring/Summer 2023 collection is the last in the brand’s 27-year run.
“I lack the words to share how proud I am of all that we have achieved,” Simons wrote in an Instagram post. “I am grateful for the incredible support from my team, from my collaborators, from the press and buyers, from my friends and family, and from our devoted fans and loyal followers.”
Simons, who is a self-trained menswear designer, launched his brand in 1995 after earning a degree in industrial design and working as a furniture designer. He went on to land top designer jobs at Jil Sander, Christian Dior and Calvin Klein. He is currently the co-creative director of Prada, working alongside Miuccia Prada.
Fans and fellow designers wrote about their appreciation for the brand on social media. “Always incredible. Always inspiring. Thank you, Raf,” Marc Jacobs wrote in response to the announcement.
