Dive Insight:
Pacsun’s fourth collection with The Met follows past successes. Numerous pieces from their previous drops have sold out.
“We are excited to continue our collaboration with The Met and present the latest phase of our collaborative efforts – The Greek and Roman Collection,” Richard Cox, vice president of men’s and global partnerships at Pacsun, said in a statement. “This collection represents a merge of historical significance and contemporary style, allowing us to showcase iconic artworks in a new light. With each release, we aim to open the world of art to our young audience and beyond. We are excited to see how our customers will infuse these designs into their personal styles.”
The brand hosted a party at The Met to celebrate the launch and invited influencers, select loyal customers and VIPs to preview the collection early.
In addition to creating another collection with The Met, Pacsun is trying out a new store concept. Last month, the company debuted its first dedicated activewear store, Pac1980, in the Mall of America. Deriving its name from its founding year, the store features a range of activewear organized according to color.
Besides expanding its reach offline, Pacsun is also trying to reach more consumers online. Last November, the retailer launched a holiday campaign called “PacVerse” and released a nonfungible token collection representing various locations in the fictional place PacVerse. It also expanded its PacWorld experience on Roblox to include a holiday gift shop and virtual try-on station.
In May, the brand announced its weekly livestream shopping segments on TikTok hosted at its stores and other locations. During the livestreams, the company provides a behind-the-scenes view into its products and access to its events.
As Pacsun builds up its online presence via Roblox and TikTok, it has also welcomed a new CEO. The company named Brie Olson as its new CEO in May. Mike Relich, who previously served as co-CEO alongside Olson, retired and transitioned to vice chairman on the company’s board.
