Dive Brief:
- The Online Trust Alliance (OTA) named 11 retailers to its 2015 eCommerce Trust Honor Roll Wednesday at the 2015 Internet Retailer Conference + Exhibition (IRCE) in Chicago.
- Based on an evaluation of the top 500 online retailers, the Honor Roll recognizes the most trustworthy e-commerce companies based on privacy, security and consumer protection practices.
- American Greetings was the most trustworthy online retailer for the third year in a row, and Netflix made the list for a fourth year in a row. This year, due to a tie, 11 online retailers made the list: American Greetings, Cabela’s, Drs. Foster & Smith, Fanatics, GameStop, The Honest Company, Jomashop, Kate Spade New York, Living Social, Netflix and SparkFun Electronics.
Dive Insight:
More than 42% of the largest North American online retailers qualified for the list, marking a dramatic improvement from last year, when only 24% qualified.
“The online threat landscape is constantly evolving, and our latest audit reflects that,” said Craig Spiezle, OTA’s executive director and president. “Even companies with top scores on the Honor Roll last year would have failed this year had they not adopted the latest best practices.”
