Dive Brief:
-
The first 44 days of the November-December holiday shopping season have seen $42.5 billion in consumer spending on computers, according to a report released Wednesday by ComScore.
-
The online spending level for these first days is a 15% increase from 2013.
-
In the second week, the work week’s five days maintained at least $1 billion in computer-based online sales.
Dive Insight:
These numbers slightly beat ComScore’s own projections, in large part, the firm says, because the week after Black Friday and CyberMonday didn’t see quite the expected lull in spending. The company says Dec. 18 and the days leading up to it would measure another surge, but things should be winding down at this point.
