Dive Insight:
Two big retailers have signed with MasterCard to use its platform-agnostic MasterPass digital payments system. MasterPass lets customers pay with any registered card, online and in-app, from a variety of devices, without having to re-enter their information every time they make a purchase.
The moves mark a major commitment from two large retailers, many of which have been cautious about implementing digital payments technologies, waiting for a majority of consumers to commit to one of the available offerings. Neiman’s—itself typically an early adopter of new technologies—cited MasterPass’ speed and convenience in choosing the system.
