Cynthia Williams, president of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Gaming, announced her resignation from Hasbro on Monday. She will exit the company on April 26, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Hasbro is looking at internal and external candidates to be her successor. The company did not immediately respond to questions regarding Williams’ exit.
Williams joined the company in 2022 from Microsoft, where she served as its general manager and vice president of the Gaming Ecosystem Commercial Team and worked to expand Xbox Gaming. Williams also spent more than 10 years at Amazon where she led Fulfillment by Amazon.
At the time of Williams’ appointment Chris Cocks, who was then serving as the president and COO of Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming, stated that Williams brought a “deep understanding” of tech and e-commerce, along with cloud and console-based gaming. Cocks soon after that statement became the company’s CEO.
Williams succeeded Cocks, who, during his time with Wizards of the Coast, doubled its revenue from 2018 to 2021.
In 2023, Wizards of the Coast and the Digital Gaming Segment saw a 10% increase in revenue, while operating profit declined 2%. The company’s outlook for 2024 expected that the Wizards segment revenue would decrease between 3% and 5%, with an operating margin of 38% to 40%.
Hasbro is scheduled to report its Q1 2024 earnings on Wednesday.
