Reports of Facebook’s demise are highly exaggerated, according to a new study from the Pew Research Center. Not only are 71% of teens 13 to 17 active on Facebook, making it the top social network for the demographic, it is also the most-frequently used by 41% of the same teens.
More than two-thirds (71%) of teens use more than one social network, however, and leading choices include Facebook subsidiary Instagram (51%), Snapchat (41%), Twitter (33%) and Google+ (33%). Only 12% of teens do not use a social network.
Online access is approaching universal among teens, with 92% online daily and 24% online “almost constantly.” Almost three-quarters (73%) of the teens surveyed have access to a smartphone.
