Dive Brief:
- Etsy made a number of updates to its platform Tuesday in an effort to streamline business operations for sellers.
- Etsy updated its Shop Manager dashboard to load faster and simplify navigation, making stats, orders and recent activity easier to access, according to Etsy. Sellers can edit photos on the seller app with saved presets and backgrounds.
- The marketplace is experimenting with real-time feedback on listing quality before publishing. Sellers also get feedback on visibility, categories and subcategories for a product. Etsy added listing prioritization to show which listings would benefit most from a refresh first.
Dive Insight:
Etsy said the updates will simplify seller workflow. As a result, the goal is to update the buyer experience as well so it's easier to find unique items.
Etsy’s focus on experience arrives as the company is trying to encourage shoppers to stick with sellers in their country. The company recently advised customers to buy local amid the waves of tariff news coming from the Trump administration.
The platform already expanded tools for buyers this month. It is using AI to help curate collections to draw on trends, aesthetics and occasions to offer product recommendations.
Etsy is taking things a step further in deploying AI tech tools for its marketplace of sellers to use across their storefronts. Earlier this month, Etsy’s Chief Product Officer Nick Daniel told Retail Dive the company is “just scratching the surface” with AI.
