Dive Insight:
Both Tula and Eighth Day have been recipients of funding from L Catterton with retail expansion being a primary driving force behind the investments. The September investment into Eighth Day came through Elevate Beauty, L Catterton’s early-stage beauty platform. It marked the first external capital raise for Eighth Day since its founding in 2021, per the company.
“We are thrilled to have Savannah, one of the most talented leaders in growing beauty brands, join Eighth Day, a beloved brand with cult products that harness the power of sophisticated, modern skin technology to promote timeless beauty,” Cori Aleardi, founding partner of Elevate Beauty, said in a statement.
Eighth Day has expanded the past two years with product selling at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Olivela, Moda Operandi, and in international markets with Niche Beauty in Germany, Harrods in London, and Melanie Grant in Australia. It also recently launched with luxury e-commerce site Net-A-Porter.
Sachs said the investment by Elevate gives the brand the financial muscle it needs to expand. “We are in team-building mode across the entire business end to end, with a priority focus on brand marketing and digital,” Sachs said in an email. “We need entrepreneurial talent that is excited to build from the ground up and thrives in a startup environment. My goal is to thoughtfully build a full, high-performing team that will seamlessly work together in bringing our brand vision to life.”
“Savannah is joining at a critical time for the brand, and I could not be more thrilled to welcome her into the world of Eighth Day,” said Nakhla in a statement. “Her track record of building brands and passion for architecting high-performance teams will be vital during our next phase of growth.”
