Dive Insight:
David’s Bridal is reshaping its C-suite under recently arrived CEO Kelly Cook as part of the company’s efforts to scale its technology, AI, operations and revenue initiatives.
As part of the shifts, Braddock will oversee store operations, supply chain, customer service, joint ventures and more, with a focus on modernization and operational improvements. All revenue-driving pillars, including merchandising, marketing, e-commerce and more, will now report to Chief Business Officer Elina Vilk, per the press release. As CTO, Saeger will focus on scaling David’s Bridal’s AI initiatives and completing a migration to Shopify.
“One year ago, we set out to prove that a heritage brand could be the most innovative tech company in the industry, and the results of our ‘Aisle to Algorithm' transformation have been nothing short of extraordinary,” Cook, who succeeded Jim Marcum as CEO about a year ago, said in a statement. “We have fundamentally moved from a legacy retailer to a high-velocity media, content, entertainment, and technology engine.”
Through the “Aisle to Algorithm” initiative, the company aims to become a technology-first retailer with a broad ecosystem of offerings in the wedding industry.
To that end, David’s Bridal has introduced a series of technological capabilities into its operations. Last May, the retailer debuted its “store of the future” concept, which features Shopify point-of-sale integration, personal styling, alterations and luxury trunk shows. Months later, the company debuted its Pearl Planner tool, which uses AI to help couples manage wedding tasks on their to-do lists.
In addition to its technological upgrades, David’s Bridal is leaning into its relationships with influencers and other businesses to promote is products. Earlier this year, the company launched its “David’s Style Squad,” which lets influencers, customers and store employees create shoppable content across the retailer’s digital platforms. Last week, the retailer also unveiled its wholesale division, providing boutiques and other businesses with a variety of options for selling its luxury bridal gowns.
