Barneys New York is aiming for a comeback — but this time in the beauty category.
Parent company Authentic Brands Group on Thursday announced a partnership with Gloent Group to develop, manufacture and distribute Barneys New York beauty products. Gloent Group is a Korean-based lifestyle company.
“We are excited to partner with Authentic Brands Group for the launch of Barneys New York Beauty,” Justin Song, CEO of Gloent Group, said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing Barneys’ rich history of delivering luxury by launching premium beauty, wellness and water products for the next generation’s inner and external health.”
The Barneys New York Beauty line will offer a variety of products in the categories of skincare, fragrance, haircare and cosmetics, among other items.
A main ingredient in the skincare line is Glocela, which is formulated with eight ingredients including cloudberry to improve skin tone, texture and moisture retention.
The collection will be available in October online, and will be introduced at additional retailers, including Saks.com, in the fourth quarter of this year.
Authentic Brands obtained Barneys New York’s intellectual property in 2019. At the time of the acquisition, the conglomerate said it would “leverage its international scale, marketing expertise, and network of best-in-class partners to grow Barneys’ presence as a global luxury retailer and lifestyle brand.”
