Dive Insight:
Analysts expect the Apple Watch to continue to sell as early adopters start to show them off.
Apple’s previous entries into a new category had increasingly phenomenal debuts, but nothing like the Apple Watch. The iPod launched in 2001, selling 125,000 units in its first quarter; 1.1 million iPhones sold upon their debut in 2007; and 3.3 million iPads sold in their first three months of release in 2010.
Buyers in nine countries worldwide were able to place an order beginning April 24, marking the first time Apple has released a new product simultaneously in more than one country.
