American Eagle Outfitters is launching a new men’s sub-brand, according to President and Executive Creative Director of AE and Aerie, Jen Foyle.
The new line will bring “innovation and newness to our men’s business,” Foyle said on a Nov. 22 call with analysts regarding the retailer’s Q3 results. “Prelaunch tests have been very encouraging.”
Foyle went on to say that the launch is in the American Eagle brand and will debut in the spring of next year.
“We’re pretty excited about it. We’ve had early reads on what we’re about to launch, and the early results have been great,” Foyle said.
American Eagle Outfitters did not immediately respond to further questions regarding the venture.
Executives have previously talked about strength within the men’s category. In its September earnings call regarding Q2, Foyle said that within the American Eagle brand one of the best performing segments was “men’s wear overall.”
The company’s Q3 earnings “exceeded our expectations,” according to Jay Schottenstein, AEO’s Executive Chairman of the Board and CEO. For the quarter, total net revenue was $1.2 billion, down 3% year over year.
