HMSHost iPhone, Android app lets travelers order food, get it delivered to airport gate
The company rolled out its B4YouBoard app after success of a pilot project at New York’s JFK airport. The expansion of HMSHost’s mobile app program marks the company’s move to further integrate mobile technology into the air traveler’s experience.
HMSHost operates in more than 100 airports around the globe, including the 20 busiest airports in North America.
Food to go
The app offers travelers delivery at the gate or pick-up service from three HMSHost-run restaurants including French Meadow Bakery and Café, Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery and Chili’s Too.
The menus from the restaurants include breakfast, lunch and dinner options and mobile ordering is available from 7 a.m. through 8 p.m., seven days per week.
The app is available for free download in Apple’s App Store and Google’s Android Market.
HMSHost plans to roll out the B4YouBoard program to additional airports in 2011.
The company partnered with Airside mobile to create the app.
Past endeavors
Recently HMSHost teamed up with Coca-Cola to support hunger relief efforts and offer consumers a chance to win a dream vacation via a mobile campaign.
The companies created the summer sweepstakes promotion to spotlight hunger relief. Consumers can vie for a grand prize vacation to one of three destinations including Orlando, FL, Palm Springs, CA and Chicago, IL.
HMSHost’s customers had the option of using the Microsoft Tag Reader on their smartphone to scan the Microsoft Tag code found on 32oz. cups of Coca-Cola at any of HMSHost’s airport, motorway or mall food court locations.
After scanning the code, consumers were redirected to a page where they entered their contact information (see story).
