YouGov has released its US retail rankings for 2024, identifying the top brands and biggest improvers across key shopping categories.
Drawing on YouGov’s daily brand tracking, the report uncovers key consumer preferences for home furnishing, groceries, and apparel shopping.
The report finds that:
- Walmart is unequivocally the preferred destination for grocery shopping nationwide, receiving a 60.8 consideration score, which was the highest in all three categories
- Nike was the most improved retail brand across all three categories
- Home Depot claimed the #1 spot in the home furnishing category, ranking as the most considered brand among both men and women
- Levi’s was the top clothing brand, supported by its strong appeal among Gen X
- 46% of Home Goods considerers follow cooking and baking content on social media (vs 33% of the general population)
“Of the more than 350 retail brands we track, established brands like Walmart, Levi’s, and Home Depot continue to have high levels of purchase consideration among consumers due to the trust established in the quality of their products,” said Kenton Barello, VP at YouGov. “We also saw brands like Zara and IKEA take big steps forward in purchase consideration from last year, which shows how consumer preferences continuously evolve.”
The report highlights key changes in purchase consideration among retail shoppers year-on-year for 30 brands in addition to profile peeks into Nike, Home Goods, and Costco to further investigate the habits of consumers that consider those brands when making purchasing decisions.
The report ranks brands based on Consideration scores from Jan. 1st to Dec. 31, 2023, and the biggest improvers are identified based on a change in score from the previous year.
