Dive Brief:
-
BaubleBar is moving out of its comfort zone with its first significant collection of bejeweled tech products in a collaboration with Target that launches Nov. 29.
-
The popular online jewelry retailer has worked with brick-and-mortar retail in the past and has even worked on gadgets like headphones and fitness trackers, but the Target line will be its first outside of jewelry.
-
The BaubleBar Target line includes iPhone cases, headphones, portable power banks, Bluetooth speakers, charging cables, and yes, even selfie sticks. It competes with similar lines from individual designers or similarly exclusive lines at retailers like Best Buy.
Dive Insight:
A special-edition line of tech wearables and accessories is par for the course in the design world. Still, this collaboration sounds just right for both Target and Baublebar. The launch of Nov. 29 will help keep a least a few shoppers coming into stores and online, keeping the momentum that Target executives have said they’re looking for this year.
And it helps BaubleBar, too, maintain its own momentum mixing it up online and offline. The line is priced well for the Target customer, from $19.99 to $49.00.
