• Michael Jones, who had been at eBay for four years, most recently as vice president of merchant development, has left the online auction site company to join coupon site RetailMeNot Inc. as senior vice president of retailer and brand solutions.

• At eBay, he worked to bring on major retailers to the auction site, and he will have similar responsibilities at RetailMeNot, the company said.

• Jones has extensive experience in that area, having also worked at ChannelAdvisor Corp. for a decade in various positions but with similar responsibilities.

Michael Jones’s move is the latest in a series of departures from eBay. Earlier this summer, longtime eBay executive Gautam Thakar left to become CEO of coupon/deals site LivingSocial. These moves could be a sign that these coupon sites have some serious retail ambitions.
